Uzbekistan showcases digital potential at meeting with New York Mayor

Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov engaged in extensive discussions with New York City Mayor Eric Adams regarding the digital economy, remote work, data centers, talent development, and outsourcing prospects.

The meeting commenced with a presentation on IT Park, showcasing Uzbekistan's initiatives to establish a contemporary digital ecosystem. The Minister elaborated on national reforms, future objectives, and the accomplishments already realized. Additionally, the operations of UZSOC and the Single Integrator UZINFOCOM were introduced during the visit.

The dialogue also emphasized the favorable investment climate for new enterprises in Uzbekistan, along with the available tax incentives. It was highlighted that the country's population, which increases by over one million individuals each year, necessitates a strategic focus on enhancing IT education and training qualified specialists.

The discussion pointed out that the pandemic has expedited global trends in remote work and automation, thereby generating new economic opportunities for Uzbekistan. The widespread proficiency in English, Russian, Arabic, German, Korean, and Japanese among the Uzbek population was acknowledged as a significant asset for international firms seeking global service capabilities.

The meeting explored potential collaborations in IT services, data centers, logistics systems, remote service delivery, and mobile platforms. It was noted that large-scale data centers are currently being constructed in Uzbekistan, and partnerships with foreign companies for data exchange are on the rise.

Additionally, the parties examined the development of the startup ecosystem, enhancing conditions for investors, and reinforcing Uzbekistan's status as an emerging international innovation hub. The country's multicultural environment and rich heritage were recognized as elements that foster creative thinking.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Shermatov and Mayor Eric Adams expressed their willingness to initiate joint projects, implement new technological solutions, and broaden bilateral cooperation.
