Uzbekistan explores strategic cooperation with ICPC Foundation to advance IT education and global academic collaboration

A delegation from the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, led by Minister Sherzod Shermatov, along with representatives from IT Park Uzbekistan under the leadership of CEO Abdulakhad Kuchkarov, is currently on a working visit to the United States.

During this visit, the delegation met with Dr. William B. Poucher, President of the ICPC Foundation and Executive Director of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), to explore opportunities for strategic collaboration in digital education, talent development, and international academic partnerships.

The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in programming education, competitive programming initiatives, talent development, and fostering more profound international academic collaborations, thereby reinforcing Uzbekistan’s dedication to establishing a globally competitive IT and innovation ecosystem.

Key areas of discussion

In the course of the meeting, the participants examined the initiation of joint projects aimed at advancing artificial intelligence, algorithmic research, software engineering skills, computational technologies, and the involvement of Uzbek students in international competitive programming contests.

Strengthening academic leadership in Central Asia

This initiative aligns with Uzbekistan’s long-term strategy to boost international collaboration in digital education and create a world-class environment for IT learning, research, and innovation. Partnering with ICPC — the most esteemed programming contest globally — supports this goal by linking Uzbek students and universities with leading international academic institutions.

MOU signed to expand ICPC cooperation and develop joint initiatives in Uzbekistan

Following the discussions, the parties reached an agreement to formulate a joint roadmap for enhancing ICPC programs in Uzbekistan and increasing the organization’s presence in Central Asia.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed, detailing cooperation on educational and research initiatives and addressing the development of a partnership with ICPC, with significant joint initiatives anticipated to be executed in Uzbekistan.
