The delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by the Governor of the Syrdarya Region, Erkinjon Turdimov, and including representatives from the Ministry of Digital Technologies and IT Park Uzbekistan, has completed an official visit to Malaysia with the goal of enhancing investment and technological collaboration. The focus of the visit was on fostering investment, business, and technological partnerships between Uzbekistan and Malaysia.

During the visit, the Uzbekistan–Malaysia Business Cooperation Forum titled “Do Business in Syrdarya” was held, attracting over 170 representatives from small and medium-sized enterprises as well as technology entrepreneurs from Malaysia.

At the forum, attendees were provided with insights into the business climate of the Syrdarya region, investment prospects, the advantages of being a member of IT Park Uzbekistan, zero-risk business conditions, and the advancement of the startup ecosystem in the area.

The visit also featured discussions with prominent Malaysian business and technology organizations, such as the Contact Center Association of Malaysia, the National Tech Association of Malaysia, the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization, and Global Business Services Malaysia. The parties explored opportunities for collaboration in digital technologies, outsourcing, and the growth of IT services.

Particular emphasis was placed on a meeting with Thomas G. Tsao, Chairman of the investment firm GOBI Partners. Following their discussions, there was a notable interest in investing in startups within Uzbekistan.

Currently, twelve Malaysian companies have set up offices in the Syrdarya region, with expectations for further increases in their numbers. The results of the visit open up additional avenues for IT Park Uzbekistan to attract international investors, broaden its partner network, and connect Uzbek startups with global markets.
