Uzbekistan and Coursera launch new initiatives in digital education

During his working visit to the United States, Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov met with the leadership of Coursera, one of the largest online education platforms globally.

The discussions centered on enhancing collaboration in IT education, developing a certification system that meets international standards, and increasing access to global digital learning resources.

Both parties explored joint initiatives aimed at creating a national IT education rating system, refining certification processes, and bolstering Uzbekistan’s digital education ecosystem.

A significant aspect of this collaboration will involve translating 3,000 Coursera courses into Uzbek by the end of 2025, with the goal of providing extensive access to high-quality international educational content for students and professionals throughout the country.

For context: Coursera currently supports the educational journeys of nearly 1.5 million learners in Uzbekistan. Its content partners include renowned global industry leaders such as Google, AWS, Nvidia, Meta, and Microsoft.

The meeting highlighted the necessity of improving the quality of IT education by aligning academic programs with labor market demands, enhancing graduate employability, and fostering industry partnerships.
