From September 8 to 10, a delegation from Talos Capital, headed by Chris Tsangos, Co-Founder of the Greek innovation ecosystem and former Managing Director of Microsoft Greece and Intel Greece, visited Uzbekistan. During this visit, the delegation conducted meetings with officials from government institutions and IT Park Uzbekistan.

The delegation was welcomed by Farkhod Ibragimov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, and Abdulakhad Kuchkarov, CEO, on behalf of IT Park Uzbekistan. In the discussions, representatives from IT Park outlined the various support measures and competitive advantages that make Uzbekistan an appealing destination for international investors and technology firms.

Talos Capital is a venture capital firm that focuses on investments in advanced technologies, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence, deep tech, cybersecurity, and defense. The firm specializes in early-stage investments (seed and Series A) and has offices in Greece, Germany, Israel, New York, and San Francisco. Its team includes globally recognized technology leaders like Chris Tsangos, Nir Netzer, Stratos Davlos, and Manfred Tropper.

During the meeting, the delegation was informed about the opportunities available through IT Park and Uzbekistan’s broader infrastructure potential. Emphasis was placed on the support mechanisms for international companies, which include tax and customs incentives, streamlined visa and work permit processes for foreign specialists, and other initiatives aimed at easing business operations within the country.

The discussions also underscored the competitive advantages of Uzbekistan’s IT sector, particularly the robust government backing for the digital economy, the presence of highly skilled professionals, the country’s strategic geographic positioning, and its potential as a gateway to both regional and global markets.

Furthermore, the parties shared insights regarding the growth of the startup ecosystem and venture capital investment. Talos Capital conveyed a strong interest in the opportunities discussed and affirmed its willingness to explore partnership initiatives.

Collaborating with Talos Capital will mark a significant advancement in attracting international investment and enhancing Uzbekistan’s standing in the global IT market.

Collaborative initiatives are anticipated to leverage the nation’s current strengths — such as strong government backing, a proficient workforce, and its advantageous geographic position — to promote startup growth, improve workforce education, and ease access to emerging technology markets.
