Prospects for advancing cooperation with the United States in the digital sector discussed

Sherzod Shermatov, the Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, met with Paolo Zampolli, the Special Representative of the President of the United States of America for Global Partnerships, during his working visit to Uzbekistan.

At the outset of the meeting, the American delegation received a comprehensive overview of the Ministry of Digital Technologies, IT Park Uzbekistan, and the Uzbekcosmos Agency. Detailed information was shared regarding the ongoing reforms, long-term strategies, and significant accomplishments of Uzbekistan in the digital sector. Additionally, the delegation was introduced to the Ustudy IT Academy, which focuses on training IT professionals, as well as the operations of UZSOC and the single integrator UZINFOCOM.

The discussions centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation. Specifically, the parties explored opportunities for collaboration in developing data centers, executing joint projects in the space industry, integrating artificial intelligence technologies, increasing exports of digital services, and nurturing the startup ecosystem.

Minister Shermatov emphasized the initiatives underway in Uzbekistan to advance the digital economy, boost IT services exports, and create new opportunities for the youth. He also highlighted efforts aimed at improving Uzbekistan’s international profile and promoting projects related to education and English language skills.

At the end of the meeting, both parties recognized the significant potential for expanding cooperation in digitalization and expressed their dedication to advancing the partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States to a higher level. Mr. Zampolli praised the extensive reforms taking place in Uzbekistan and reiterated his willingness to pursue collaborative initiatives in the future.
