Prospects for advancing cooperation with Finland in digitalization discussed

Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov convened a meeting with Ilkka Räisänen, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The meeting commenced with a presentation detailing the extensive initiatives of IT Park Uzbekistan, outlining future development strategies, as well as current achievements in the export of IT services and the ongoing efforts to expand these initiatives.

A video was showcased that highlighted Finland’s experience in digital transformation, particularly emphasizing the significance and function of identification systems in facilitating the effective delivery of digital services.

During the discussions, both parties thoroughly examined the potential for bilateral cooperation. Special focus was given to the formulation of digital connectivity policies in Finland and Central Asia, the improvement of the regulatory framework surrounding digitalization, and the enhancement of collaboration with European partners, including Finland, France, and the Baltic states.

The Minister pointed out the consistent advancement in relations with European nations, mentioning the active growth of partnerships with firms from Japan, the Republic of Korea, China, and Saudi Arabia, while several leading international IT companies are becoming members of IT Park Uzbekistan. He stressed the importance of intensifying collaboration with European partners.

The discussions also covered the establishment of quality job opportunities for youth, broadening their prospects within the IT sector, and consequently, expanding the geographical reach of IT service exports. In this regard, the parties exchanged insights on attracting Finnish companies to Uzbekistan, nurturing investment partnerships, and effectively leveraging the Embassy of Finland’s potential to promote these initiatives.
