IT Park Uzbekistan and Latvian delegation explored cooperation in IT and innovation

As part of ICT Week Uzbekistan 2025, Abdulakhad Kuchkarov, the CEO of IT Park, convened a meeting with a Latvian delegation led by Georgijs Vojevoda, the Head of the Latvian Foreign Economic Relations Office in Uzbekistan (Latvian Investment and Development Agency).

The discussions centered on potential collaboration in IT outsourcing, current support programs for member companies, the processes for establishing businesses in Uzbekistan, and initiatives related to startups and the broader innovation ecosystem. IT Park representatives provided comprehensive insights into the favorable conditions established for the growth of IT outsourcing, government support measures, and opportunities available for international firms.

Significant emphasis was placed on the rapid expansion of Uzbekistan’s startup ecosystem. The Latvian delegation expressed a keen interest in identifying the sectors that are currently most favored by Uzbek startups.

IT Park representatives highlighted that support for startups encompasses all developmental stages, ranging from the eight IT Park startup studios (2025) and MVP programs in partnership with Plug and Play and Domino Ventures, to the accelerators of IT Park, Tumaris, and Silkroad Innovation Hub. Since 2024, over 90 Uzbek startups have taken part in major international events such as Web Summit, Gitex Global, and London Tech Week, facilitated by the Startup Base platform.

The Latvian delegation also expressed a strong interest in talent development and educational initiatives, including the national One Million Uzbek Coders program and “School 21.” Latvian companies were encouraged to set up offices in Uzbekistan, where they could take advantage of business support under the Zero Risk program, along with the opportunity to recruit local specialists.

This meeting represented a significant advancement in fostering mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Latvia. Both parties conveyed their willingness to maintain the dialogue and enhance business connections, thereby promoting the development of the innovation ecosystem and boosting IT service exports in both nations.
