From incentives to talent: what awaits foreign companies in Uzbekistan — outcomes of IT Park workshops

On 24 September, the Offshore Outsourcing Conference Workshops took place at the Congress Hall of the Ministry of Digital Technologies, organized by IT Park Uzbekistan as part of ICT Week Uzbekistan. Experts from IT Park provided practical advice on conducting business within the country, addressing topics such as labor legislation, taxation, soft-landing programs, infrastructure, and talent initiatives. The workshops attracted over 50 international attendees.

The program for the workshops featured several thematic sessions:

Aziz Tajiddinov, a Specialist from the Residents Registration Department, discussed the benefits of becoming a member of IT Park. His presentation, titled “Residency in IT Park Uzbekistan,” highlighted tax incentives and growth tools that enable companies to enhance their presence in both local and international markets.

Bobomurod Abdurassulov, a Finance Specialist, offered an overview of the Zero Risk program and the infrastructure support available to IT-enabled services companies. This support includes fully equipped free office spaces in various regions, subsidies, and extensive administrative assistance.

Azizbek Dauletbaev, a Specialist from the Softlanding Department, provided a detailed introduction to the programs and benefits offered at IT Park, which range from tax exemptions and VAT refunds to other advantages of residency.

Ahmed Aboulezz, Advisor to the CEO of IT Park, conducted two sessions. The first session, titled “Talent Acquisition,” explored Uzbekistan’s skilled talent pool, recruitment initiatives, and the availability of professionals with advanced technical skills and foreign language capabilities. In his overview of the Labor Code, he shared practical insights regarding hiring, contracts, and adherence to local regulations.

Azamat Rakhmon-Zoda, Head of the Office for Promising Projects, discussed Uzbekistan’s banking system. He detailed the processes for opening corporate accounts, regulations related to foreign currency operations, and financial instruments accessible to international businesses, emphasizing the growing transparency and convenience of the system for foreign investors.

Akmal Yakhyoev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Kapitalbank, presented on the bank’s collaboration with IT Park Uzbekistan.

He highlighted the collaborative efforts to establish a dependable financial infrastructure for IT and BPO companies, pointing out that Kapitalbank provides tailored solutions to assist both international and local businesses in optimizing operations and confidently expanding in Uzbekistan.

The Offshore Outsourcing Conference Workshops concluded with a keynote speech by Makhliyo Muksinova, Services Export Development Director at IT Park Uzbekistan:
