Expanding cooperation with Meta in the field of digitalization

Rustam Karimjonov, the Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, convened a meeting with Sarim Aziz, the Director of Public Policy for South and Central Asia at Meta.

During this meeting, the Meta representative provided an in-depth overview of the company's operations in the region and conveyed a willingness to enhance collaboration in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the advancement of an inclusive digital economy.

In response, the Deputy Minister discussed the goals set forth in the Digital Uzbekistan – 2030 Strategy, highlighting ongoing initiatives with American firms to boost the export of IT services.

The Uzbek delegation also introduced several national IT education initiatives, including the One Million AI Prompters and Zero Risk programs, which aim to support foreign companies in Uzbekistan and improve their access to skilled talent.

Meta representatives praised Uzbekistan's significant accomplishments in the information and communication technology sector, noting the country's increasing potential to help domestic firms penetrate global markets via digital channels. They particularly emphasized the necessity of fostering an open innovation ecosystem and enhancing national capabilities in artificial intelligence.

The meeting also covered critical topics concerning information security, data protection, and the responsible and transparent development of artificial intelligence models.

Additionally, Meta showcased various educational initiatives and expressed its readiness to initiate scholarship and pilot programs in collaboration with leading universities in Uzbekistan.

At the conclusion of the discussions, the parties reached an agreement to broaden their cooperation in artificial intelligence, IT education, and the digital economy, as well as to strengthen partnerships in developing academic programs and joint research endeavors.
