AMALT Group of companies eyes Uzbekistan for operational expansion and tech investments

During the visit to the United States, a high-level meeting took place between the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Association of Moldovan-American Logistics and Transport (AMALT) to discuss enhancing business collaboration, direct investment, and the establishment of an operations hub in Uzbekistan.

Attendees included Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan; Farkhod Ibragimov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of IT Park Uzbekistan; Abdulakhad Kuchkarov, CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan; and representatives from AMALT Group, such as Mihai Sava, President of Nova Lines; Nikolae Corobca, Executive Director and President of C1 Management; Vadim Savca, Founder of Forsage Logistics; Iurie Postolachi, Founder of CargoBoss Inc; and Mihai Dercaci, President of Schwarz Logistics Corp.

Throughout the discussions, both parties considered the potential creation of an AMALT resident transport operations center in Uzbekistan. This center would facilitate dispatching, accounting, compliance, and customer support functions for U.S.-based Moldovan companies. The initiative is anticipated to generate up to 400 new jobs and utilize Uzbekistan’s skilled talent pool.

Additionally, the parties explored avenues for increasing investment from Moldovan entrepreneurs into Uzbekistan’s outsourcing and technology sectors, particularly in support of startups. AMALT expressed a desire to co-invest in digital transport solutions, educational initiatives, and local accelerators that could incorporate Uzbek innovations into U.S. networks.

The meeting concluded with both sides pinpointing potential areas for collaboration, establishing investment priorities, and agreeing on a roadmap to advance Uzbekistan’s technology ecosystem, thereby promoting economic growth and innovation within the country.

AMALT is a non-profit organization that represents 10 Moldovan-American trucking companies, collectively generating $600 million in revenue and employing over 2,000 individuals, serving major clients such as Amazon, the U.S. Military, and FEMA. The association currently operates delivery centers in Moldova, Poland, and the U.S., and considers Uzbekistan a promising location for regional expansion.
