Uzbekistan Plans to Launch Satellite Internet in 2026

An international forum, Digital Qazaqstan 2026, focused on digital development and technology, took place in Shymkent. The event gathered representatives from governments, technology firms, startups, and international organizations, including a delegation from IT Park Uzbekistan.

During the forum, Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister, Abdulla Aripov, revealed that the nation intends to initiate satellite internet in test mode by 2026. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity in remote and hard-to-reach regions and includes supportive measures for operators, such as tax incentives.

He stated that Uzbekistan has achieved considerable advancements in digitalization in recent years. Broadband internet coverage is approaching nationwide levels, and there has been a significant increase in network capacity.

The forum also included a panel session that concentrated on artificial intelligence and digital development within the countries of the Organization of Turkic States. Jahongir Rajabov, First Deputy Director General of IT Park Uzbekistan, participated in the discussion.

He emphasized that the advancement of artificial intelligence in Uzbekistan is being pursued at the state level. Currently, approximately 200 AI projects are underway across various sectors, including healthcare, energy, transport, and public administration.

Simultaneously, infrastructure and workforce development are progressing: computing capacity is being enhanced, specialized laboratories are being established, and training programs are being implemented, including those for public officials.

The progress in areas such as satellite communication, artificial intelligence, and the startup ecosystem signifies the country’s overall transition towards digital transformation. IT Park Uzbekistan continues to back technology projects and nurture the IT community, creating an environment conducive to the growth of the digital economy.
