Uzbekistan as an Emerging GameDev Business Hub: IT Park Uzbekistan at an International Event in Moscow
From October 29 to November 1, Moscow hosted the 2nd Moscow International Video Game Week, bringing together game developers, publishers, investors, and representatives of technology ecosystems. The business program focused on international market entry, game project development, and cross-border cooperation.
International Expansion: Uzbekistan’s Advantages for GameDev Companies
During the session “Expansion: How to Build an International Business,” Azamat Rakhmon-Zoda, Head of the Export Development Department at IT Park Uzbekistan, presented Uzbekistan’s competitive advantages for international GameDev companies, highlighting business conditions, tax incentives, and market-entry support mechanisms.
IT Park Uzbekistan’s special tax regime provides eligible members with 0% corporate income tax and 0% social tax, along with a reduced personal income tax rate of 7.5% for employees. These incentives help game development studios optimize development and operational costs while scaling their businesses.
Additional support is available through the Softlanding and One-Stop-Shop programs, which assist companies with business registration, administrative procedures, and employee relocation. Combined with existing government support measures, these initiatives create competitive conditions for international game developers and publishers.
International Technology Hubs: Partnerships and Access to New Markets
During a panel discussion on cooperation between international technology hubs, Vladislav Yun, GameDev Manager at IT Park Uzbekistan, shared the organization’s experience in fostering cross-border collaboration.
He emphasized IT Park Uzbekistan’s role not only as a destination for technology companies but also as an international business hub providing access to new markets, business networks, and growth opportunities.
Partnerships with international technology hubs enable joint Softlanding programs, B2B meetings, and initiatives that support the global expansion of IT Park Uzbekistan members.
Investment in the Gaming Industry
Dalerkhon Nodirov, Director of IT Park Ventures, outlined the fund’s strategic approach to developing venture financing in the GameDev sector, highlighting opportunities to establish specialized investment mechanisms, attract international industry expertise, and improve access to capital for gaming projects.
IT Park Ventures has already funded approximately 75 startups and is considering the development of a dedicated gaming investment initiative in collaboration with an industry partner. The proposed model would combine the fund’s financial resources with specialized sector knowledge to support promising game development projects.
Such a partnership could offer developers greater access to investment, international publishers, and professional industry expertise.
Future Cooperation Opportunities
Participation in Moscow International Video Game Week gave IT Park Uzbekistan the opportunity to highlight Uzbekistan’s advantages for international GameDev businesses and to identify potential areas of cooperation with foreign technology hubs, game developers, and investors.
Key priorities remain attracting international gaming companies, expanding the industry’s export potential, and enhancing investment support for Uzbekistan’s game developers.
