Uzbekistan and Serbia expand cooperation in the IT Sector

The Uzbekistan–Serbia Business Forum took place in Tashkent, featuring Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev, Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adriana Mesarović, and First Deputy CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan Jakhongir Radjabov. The discussions focused on collaboration in IT outsourcing, the initiation of joint projects, and investment attraction, including the creation of data centers and venture funds.

This forum was held on February 20, 2026, in Tashkent, coinciding with the official visit of the Serbian delegation. Over 80 entrepreneurs, along with representatives from governmental bodies and businesses from both nations, participated in the event. The agenda included presentations highlighting investment opportunities, official addresses, and B2B and G2B meetings designed to enhance trade, investment, and the initiation of collaborative projects.

During the forum, Jakhongir Radjabov showcased Uzbekistan as an emerging IT hub, emphasizing the country's developed digital ecosystem that offers favorable conditions for residents of IT Park Uzbekistan. These advantages comprise zero corporate and social tax rates, streamlined company registration processes, and the absence of work permit requirements for foreign professionals.

Particular emphasis was placed on cooperation models in BPO, KPO, and IT outsourcing. Serbia could function as a “front office” for the European Union market, while Uzbekistan is positioned as a scalable “back office” platform, offering competitive costs and an expanding talent pool. The discussion also included the potential for investing in data center construction in Karakalpakstan, with suggestions for preferential regimes and special electricity tariffs.

Moreover, an initiative was introduced to create a joint venture fund that would facilitate Uzbek startups in entering the European market while enabling Serbian startups to expand within Central Asia.

Collaborating with the Serbian side presents new opportunities for IT Park Uzbekistan to broaden its export reach, attract foreign direct investment, and reinforce Uzbekistan’s role as a strategic digital platform linking Europe and Central Asia.
