Uzbekistan and Serbia agree to expand cooperation in digital transformation

A meeting was held in Tashkent between Sherzod Shermatov, the Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Adriana Mesarović, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Republic of Serbia. The discussions also included the management of IT Park Uzbekistan and representatives from relevant agencies of both nations.

During the meeting, the participants explored avenues to enhance collaboration in digital transformation. Emphasis was placed on advancing the IT sector, establishing joint projects in artificial intelligence, developing data centers, and sharing experiences in the digitalization of public administration and various economic sectors.

As part of their visit, the Serbian delegation toured IT Park Uzbekistan. The technopark representatives showcased the growth of the national IT ecosystem, the available tax and infrastructure incentives for residents, support measures for export-oriented businesses, and resources for startup development. Significant focus was directed towards opportunities for foreign investors.

The delegation also visited the UzSOC cybersecurity center, where they were briefed on real-time monitoring systems, analytical tools, and cyber incident response strategies, as well as protective measures for government entities and critical infrastructure. At UZINFOCOM, they were presented with state information systems, e-government infrastructure, and data center capabilities.

During the discussions, the parties also examined prospects for collaborative development in BPO and IT outsourcing, opportunities for establishing joint ventures, and enhancing cooperation between the innovation centers of both countries. The Serbian delegation shared its expertise in developing supercomputing infrastructure and expanding data center capacities.

Following the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral technological partnerships, exchanging knowledge, and implementing joint initiatives within the digital economy sector.

The collaboration between Uzbekistan and Serbia is expected to generate new opportunities for attracting investments, boosting the export potential of IT companies, and enhancing national digital infrastructure.
