
Uzbekistan and Japan discuss development of infrastructure and digital technologies
A business forum focused on the development of infrastructure and smart cities between Uzbekistan and Japan took place in Tashkent. The event saw participation from representatives of government bodies and Japanese firms, who engaged in discussions about collaborative opportunities in infrastructure enhancement, digital technologies, and innovation.
Notable attendees included Jamol Maksudov, Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Makhliyo Muksinova, Director for Strategic Development at IT Park Uzbekistan; Ilzat Kasimov, Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan; as well as Yoshimichi Terada, Japan’s Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, along with other representatives from Japanese companies.
Throughout the forum, key areas concerning infrastructure and urban technology advancement were showcased. Presentations were made by representatives from Japanese firms and research institutions on topics such as urban planning, transportation system development, and the adoption of smart city technologies. The Uzbek delegation highlighted projects related to infrastructure development and the construction of New Tashkent, along with the country’s investment prospects in technology and urban development.
Makhliyo Muksinova, Deputy CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan, emphasized Uzbekistan’s potential as an emerging IT hub in the region during her presentation. She pointed out the advantages for international companies, which include a robust human capital base, tax incentives for IT Park Uzbekistan residents, and the growth of the startup ecosystem and artificial intelligence initiatives.
Collaborating with Japanese partners will allow IT Park Uzbekistan to enhance its international connections, draw in technology firms and investors, and further advance the development of the startup ecosystem, research, and innovative projects within Uzbekistan.
