NVIDIA and Firebird Discuss AI Infrastructure Development in Uzbekistan

The Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Shermatov, convened a meeting with Nicolo Caprese, Vice President for Global AI Infrastructure Development at NVIDIA, along with Firebird representatives, including President Alexander Yesayan and Managing Director Razmig Hovaghimian.

First Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, Oleg Pekos, also participated in the meeting. The discussions centered on advancing the artificial intelligence infrastructure in Uzbekistan.

NVIDIA, an American technology firm and a leading global entity in graphics processing units (GPUs) and AI solutions, was established in 1993 and is based in the United States. Its products are extensively utilized in data centers, gaming, and AI development, with the company’s revenue surpassing $60 billion.

Firebird is an international organization dedicated to the development of digital infrastructure, which encompasses data centers and AI-related initiatives. It operates in emerging markets and partners with both public and private sectors.

The attendees were briefed on ongoing AI-related reforms, including support initiatives for data centers in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as current projects and training programs aimed at specialists.

NVIDIA and Firebird representatives also proposed a plan to establish a large-scale AI data center. This project aims to construct a facility with a capacity ranging from 125 to 250 MW, with possibilities for future expansion.

Such collaboration offers access to global expertise and technologies, bolsters the development of local infrastructure, and fosters favorable conditions for the growth of the IT sector and the training of AI specialists.
