New Areas for the Development of the Syrdarya Region’s IT Ecosystem Identified During IT Park Uzbekistan Working Visit

During the visit, key areas for the further development of the region’s technology sector were reviewed, including infrastructure development, support for existing companies and startups, talent development, and the expansion of export opportunities. Following meetings with representatives of the regional ecosystem, priority measures were identified to create favorable conditions for technology companies and strengthen the role of the Syrdarya region in Uzbekistan’s digital economy.

Development of IT Infrastructure

One of the key areas of the visit was the development of infrastructure required for the continued growth of the region’s technology sector.

In Gulistan, Azamat Karamatov reviewed the construction progress of the new building of IT Park Uzbekistan’s Syrdarya branch, which is expected to become one of the region’s key platforms for IT companies and technology initiatives. As part of the further development of this infrastructure, plans are also being considered to establish a startup center in Gulistan offering acceleration and incubation programs, with the involvement of venture funds, accelerators, and other participants in the technology ecosystem.

Particular attention was also given to the IT center currently under construction in Yangiyer. The facility is planned to provide space for BPO companies, startups, and international technology companies, helping expand business activity and create new jobs in the region.

Supporting Members and Expanding Exports

The development of new infrastructure is expected to go hand in hand with expanding opportunities for companies already operating in the region and strengthening business ties within the ecosystem.

During the visit, Azamat Karamatov held meetings with IT Park Uzbekistan members operating in the Syrdarya region to discuss their current activities, further growth plans, scaling opportunities, and expansion into new markets.

A separate meeting was also held with IT Park Uzbekistan members from Tashkent and the Syrdarya region. It focused on strengthening B2B cooperation, exchanging experience, and developing new business partnerships between companies.

Particular attention was given to the international growth of regional members. For the BPO company Meridian Solutions, opportunities to participate in international business missions and IT Park Uzbekistan programs were considered with the aim of expanding the company’s service geography and export potential.

During the Humo Voices discussions, attention was directed toward the support mechanisms available to assist the company in its continued development and scaling efforts.

Looking ahead, regional IT Park members are anticipated to play a more active role in international events, business missions, and overseas initiatives organized by IT Park Uzbekistan, offering companies new opportunities to form partnerships and access new markets.

Talent Development for International Companies

The increase in the number of companies and the expansion of their operations are closely tied to the availability of qualified professionals. For this reason, talent development aligned with the practical needs of businesses was another central topic of the visit.

With Canaan CX, an international company based in the Syrdarya region, discussions addressed workforce requirements and the possibility of organizing training for specialists in high-demand fields.

As part of the same agenda, Azamat Karamatov visited the Academy EAB-IT training center, which offers educational programs including Data Analytics. Special focus was placed on expanding opportunities for young people to gain in-demand digital skills and enhancing collaboration between educational institutions and businesses.

Supporting Regional Startups

A further key component in building the regional ecosystem is creating the conditions necessary for local technology projects to emerge and scale.

Azamat Karamatov reviewed several startups from the Syrdarya region and discussed potential support mechanisms for their continued development.

For Barakami, opportunities to participate in national programs and initiatives aimed at fostering technology entrepreneurship were explored. With MedMapp, discussions centered on potential pathways for entering international markets, forming global partnerships, and promoting the project through IT Park Uzbekistan’s international network.

Going forward, regional startups are expected to be more actively engaged in acceleration programs, international initiatives, and other support mechanisms tailored to the development stage and specific needs of each project.

Following the working visit, a comprehensive set of priorities was defined for IT Park Uzbekistan’s future activities in the Syrdarya region, including the development of modern IT infrastructure, the attraction of new local and international companies, export growth, talent development, stronger B2B connections, and support for promising startups.

The main goal is to build an integrated IT ecosystem in the region, where infrastructure, business, education, and startups develop in coordination, creating conditions for the emergence of new companies, skilled jobs, and export-oriented technology projects.

The efforts in the Syrdarya region are part of IT Park Uzbekistan’s broader regional development strategy. A similar approach will be consistently applied in other regions of the country, taking into account their specialization, talent and economic potential, and competitive advantages, with the aim of expanding the geography of the technology sector and enabling regions to play a more active role in Uzbekistan’s digital economy.
