IT Park Uzbekistan and ICPC Foundation Explore Prospects for Hosting ICPC World Finals in Uzbekistan

The meeting included Azamat Karamatov, CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan, along with an ICPC Foundation delegation led by its President, Dr. William B. Poucher.

The discussions covered organizational issues, host-country requirements, coordination among relevant stakeholders, and possible cooperation formats with government institutions.

During the visit, the ICPC Foundation delegation assessed Uzbekistan’s potential to host the ICPC World Finals in the future, evaluating its infrastructure, organizational capabilities, and ability to execute the event program.

Delegates from the ICPC Foundation shared insights into organizing large-scale international programming competitions and highlighted key considerations in the preparation of such events.

The ICPC Foundation delegation’s visit to Tashkent, which took place from September 20–24, 2026, marks the first high-level visit by the organization following the signing of the Letter of Commitment and aligns with ICT WEEK Uzbekistan 2026.

The ICPC — International Collegiate Programming Contest — is a global algorithmic programming competition for university students. The ICPC community spans 105 countries and 3,704 universities, with more than 71,000 participants engaging in all stages of the competition worldwide each year. The alumni network of the ICPC exceeds 450,000 members.

Approximately 140 teams that qualify via regional contests compete in the ICPC World Finals. In recent years, the finals have taken place in various countries, including Egypt, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan. The 2024 World Finals were held in Astana, and the 2025 finals were in Baku.

The competition's global scale is reflected in the geographic diversity of its participants. In the Asia West region alone, more than 17,600 participants from 736 universities take part in onsite rounds, while Northern Eurasia includes over 8,600 participants from 316 universities.

Hosting the ICPC World Finals in Uzbekistan could support the growth of the country’s competitive programming ecosystem and enhance its collaboration with international technology and academic communities.
