International Digital Technology Center to launch in Uzbekistan with incentives for companies

Uzbekistan intends to create an International Digital Technology Center under the “Enterprise Uzbekistan” brand. This center will operate under a unique legal framework that will remain in effect until 2100.

The initiative is anticipated to be a key component of the strategy aimed at transforming the nation into a prominent IT hub in Central Asia. The vision for the center includes the establishment of its own technological ecosystem that integrates international expertise with local resources.

The center will operate in a “regulatory sandbox” format, enabling companies to experiment with new products and solutions under relaxed conditions. This encompasses the development of financial services and other innovative digital products without the risk of breaching current regulations. Specifically, residents will have the ability to pay salaries in foreign currencies, implement international labor standards, and handle personal data in accordance with international norms and utilizing cloud technologies. This approach is designed to facilitate the recruitment of foreign specialists and IT talent.

In the process of establishing the center, international consulting firms and foreign experts are expected to be engaged. Their involvement has already led to the drafting of legislation concerning the International Digital Technology Center.

Participants will benefit from favorable conditions for intellectual property protection, investment attraction, and startup development. Tax and customs incentives, along with support for export activities, are also planned. Notably, these incentives will extend to the importation of high-tech equipment, with an emphasis on attracting venture capital and assisting startups in entering international markets.

The primary focus areas for the center will include artificial intelligence, digital transformation, research and development, certification, startup incubation, and data center development. Plans also include certifying IT products and professionals according to international standards and enhancing infrastructure for data storage.

This year, as part of significant digital technology events in Uzbekistan, a dedicated program is set to promote the center to foreign companies and investors.

Enterprise Uzbekistan serves as a hub for technology business development and a global technology center. It merges the innovative essence of Silicon Valley with the corporate dependability of Delaware, fostering a distinctive ecosystem where technology, expertise, and monetization synergistically unite businesses.

The objective is to convert intellectual capital into a sustainable economic asset via cutting-edge digital solutions.

By the year 2030, the Center aims to draw in as many as 1,000 companies, generate over 300,000 jobs, and create an export potential of up to $5 billion. This initiative is also regarded as a catalyst for the advancement of IT education and youth employment. Prominent international technology firms have already expressed significant interest in this project.
