International game studio WATT is set to launch its inaugural project — the game GRIMPS — and is exploring Uzbekistan as a potential base for publishing its upcoming projects and expanding its workforce.

The first project developed in Uzbekistan will be GRIMPS, which is slated for release in the second quarter of 2026, with a demo version already available on Steam.

The company intends to register its intellectual property projects under Uzbekistan's jurisdiction and publish its games through the country. It is also contemplating the recruitment of local talent.

A significant factor influencing this decision is Uzbekistan’s double taxation avoidance agreements with the United States. This arrangement streamlines collaboration with international platforms and foreign partners, potentially boosting revenue by around 30%.

The studio began its partnership after establishing professional connections with the Creative Industries Agency and visiting Uzbekistan during a business trip in December. Currently, WATT is regarded as one of the most promising game studios in the CIS region.

The entry of international game studios into the country could further enhance the development of Uzbekistan’s game development industry. It fosters knowledge exchange, attracts new professionals, and creates opportunities for collaborative projects, while reinforcing the country’s status as a promising hub for the advancement of the gaming industry and the digital creative sector.
