Central Eurasia Launches AI Readiness Study in the U.S.

A new study assessing artificial intelligence readiness in Central Eurasia has been initiated in the United States. This initiative, named Central Eurasian AI Readiness, was unveiled during a conference at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The objective of the project is to evaluate the level of AI development across the region's countries and to showcase its potential to investors and partners.

The foundational framework of the study was introduced at the Innovation in Global Growth Markets conference, hosted by the MIT Kuo Sharper Center for Prosperity and Entrepreneurship. The research is set to continue until September 2026 and will encompass Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.

This project is being executed in partnership with Silkroad Innovation Hub, with backing from IT Park Uzbekistan, Freedom Holding, and Astana Hub. At this phase, the team has presented the methodology that will direct the analysis.

The study aims to deliver a thorough evaluation of the development of artificial intelligence throughout the region. Currently, Central Eurasia's potential is frequently undervalued, as investment and policy decisions tend to be based on isolated case studies rather than a holistic regional overview.

“Uzbekistan is advancing its AI capabilities in both infrastructure and human capital. Through programs like the ‘Five Million Artificial Intelligence Leaders’ initiative, we are equipping specialists nationwide with practical AI skills and integrating these technologies into startups, exports, and public-private partnership projects. This study will help illustrate that this work is already in progress,”

The report will be compiled over the upcoming months, with the initial findings anticipated to be presented in autumn 2026 at prominent technology events, including ICT Week Uzbekistan and Digital Bridge Kazakhstan.
