AWS Academy launched at 12 universities in Uzbekistan

The program is being implemented in collaboration between IT Park Uzbekistan and Amazon Web Services (AWS). At the current stage, 12 higher education institutions across Uzbekistan are participating in the initiative.

AWS Academy workshop for faculty

On September 21, IT Park’s Tashkent branch hosted a workshop for faculty members from universities participating in AWS Academy. The event brought together Shin Teo Jen, Regional General Manager, AWS Academy, Saidazizkhon (Daz) Akbarov, Solutions Architect at AWS, representatives of IT Park Uzbekistan, and faculty members from 12 universities.

During the workshop, participants received a detailed overview of the AWS Academy structure, available educational resources, and professional certification opportunities. Faculty members also shared feedback on integrating the courses into university curricula, the support required for implementation, and the further development of the program.

AWS Academy provides universities with free, ready-to-teach learning materials, including lectures, laboratory exercises, and assessments. The program also offers professional training for educators, practice exams, discounted AWS certification vouchers, and digital badges for both students and faculty members.

The participating institutions include Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi, Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent, Inha University in Tashkent, Westminster International University in Tashkent, New Uzbekistan University, Cyber University, Kimyo International University in Tashkent, Tashkent International University, Amity University Tashkent, Japan Digital University, IT Park University, and Samarkand International University of Technology (SIUT).

Expanding AWS Academy and developing new AI tracks

As part of the program’s continued development, during ICT WEEK Uzbekistan 2026, Makhliyo Muksinova, Director for Strategic Development at IT Park Uzbekistan, met with Shin Teo Jen, Regional General Manager, AWS Academy.

The parties discussed the further development of AWS Academy in Uzbekistan, including onboarding additional universities, increasing the number of trained faculty members, and developing a professional accreditation system for educators.

Particular attention was given to integrating AWS Academy courses on machine learning and generative artificial intelligence into university curricula, as well as developing specialized educational tracks in AI.

The parties also discussed opportunities to organize practical training programs for IT Park members in cloud infrastructure, machine learning, generative AI, and the deployment of technology solutions using AWS services.

Cooperation with Amazon Web Services is taking place within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed on May 2, 2023, between the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan and AWS. The agreement covers digital transformation, the development of digital skills and cloud technologies, as well as the exchange of expertise in artificial intelligence, education, and research.
